more prayer and praise

Leo Wattel's parents were both in Edmonton hospitals this week due to heart-related issues. Doctors balloons to clear out Mr Wattel's arteries, which was mostly, but not thoroughly, successful. He reports that he is already feeling a lot better, so we're thankful for that.

Leo's mother underwent tests, and still awaits the results.

summary of November 18 council meeting

Council held an informal meeting on Saturday, November 18 at 8 p.m. Here's an outline:

  • Details for Sunday service were discussed; Mr Callahan will preach; Mr Plante will lead, and Messrs. Gallant and Wattel will serve communion. Mr Plante also provided Mr Gallant with biblical readings for the bulletin.
  • Mr Plante distributed a service participation schedule for the remainder of 2006.
  • Council received membership records from Edmonton ORC for Mrs Gallant and Paul Morin.
  • Mr Callahan informed the council that the seniors at Wild Rose would love to hear carols.
  • Council discussed matters of church education, church growth, and the need to have a "face" to the community in the form of a pastor-type who will be active in promoting service to the community. Discussed identifying a neighbourhood and specifically targeting it as "our community" to focus service and mission upon.
  • Mr Gallant will burn a CD of the church education material sent by Bill DeJong, and provide it to Mr Plante.
  • It was decided that Christmas will be observed this year on the preceding Sunday, December 24. There will be no service on Christmas Day. Mr Wattel also suggested finishing/starting the year (Sunday Dec 31) with a service of thanksgiving/prayer.
  • Next council meeting will be at 8 a.m. on Saturday December 2, at Mr Gallant's office.
  • Mr Gallant closed in prayer.

  • Continued prayer for Yolanda Wattel and Heidi Jones and their unborn babies.
  • Employment for Terry Morin.
  • Safety for all, particularly for Paul Morin as he is sent on long trips.
