Continuing Growth

We thank the Lord for continuing to increase our number. In December, we welcomed the Williamson family and baptized Cicely Harris. On January 27, 2008, we welcomed Dean Barendregt into membership, and on February 3, we welcomed Jay Woodford.

Thanks be to God for bringing these brothers and sisters into our midst!

Council Meeting Summary

Council met 7:30 p.m., February 11, 2008. All active members were present for this meeting.

  1. With Mr Plante on sabbatical, the arrangement of officebearers is now as follows: Mr Callahan, chairman; Mr Soles, vice-chairman; Mr Gallant, clerk; Mr Wattel, treasurer.
  2. Council discussed the Fort St John church planting work and decided to propose options to their group regarding the nature of their relationship to us.
  3. Council discussed the ongoing nurture of music leadership within the congregation.
  4. Council agreed to Bonita Callahan's request to aim for an Easter dinner/program for Saturday, March 22 (between Good Friday and Easter).
  5. Council has tentatively set the annual congregational meeting for Sunday, March 2, provided the facility will be available for sufficient time following worship. The two major agenda items are: (1) Approval of financial reports and budget; and (2) Voting on the extension of officebearer terms, according to the stipulations of our Constitution (see Article 3, subhead "Ordination of Elders and Deacons": first term of office is two years, after which officebearers must be re-elected [five year term]). Mr Wattel will check into availability of facility this week; if unavailable on March 2, the meeting will either be the Sunday preceding or the Sunday following.
  6. Council decided to have Mr Callahan provide our Lord's Supper wine. It will be the responsibility of whoever is setting up the Lord's Supper to pick up the wine required.
  7. Next council meeting will be a pastoral care and prayer meeting, next Monday, Feb 18.
